The ride » Ride Carpenter Express up from Deer Valley’s main base, then ski down to the Sterling Express chairlift, which takes you to the top of 9,400-foot Bald Mountain. The offload terminal for Wasatch Express is close by, so if you bear right as you head downhill, you can reach the Wasatch lift line by riding any one of a handful of intermediate runs ideal for cruising. The other lift running to Bald Mountain’s summit, Sultan Express, also is easily reachable from the top of Wasatch Express.
Runs to try:
Homeward Bound » The only beginner run off of Bald Mountain, it takes skiers away from Wasatch Express. To get back up, take Sterling Express.
Keno » This is a fun run for a top-to-bottom, even for intermediates, because it has enough slope to build up controllable speed, is plenty wide and is flanked by tree stands.
Ruins of Pompeii » Just off a ridge from double-blue diamond run Tycoon, this expert slope offers a nice steep pitch before uniting with the bottom of Evergreen, which is just as good.
