Ski Magazine Top 20 Ski Resorts for 2011-2012 with Several in Utah & southwest Colorado

Ski Magazine has issued it’s ranking of the 2011-2012’s best ski resorts  in north America.

Deer Valley (UT) - If you want the apres skiing trip of a life-time this is where you will find it.   A comment by a reader indicated that a vacation here is like “skiing in the lap of luxury.”  There are many fine dining restaurants and other activities for your selection.

Park City Mountain Resort (UT) -  This is truly a modern resort with a ski bridge to the Town Lift and within minutes you are delivered to 3,300 acres of skiable terrain.  Historic Main Street in the middle of Park City is lined with restaurants and shopping establishments.  The Sundance Film Festival ( January 17th-27th, 2013) is held every January with many new film directors featuring their films.

Telluride (CO) - Telluride is located in southwest Colorado in the San Juan Mountains.  This resort boasts “some of the most challenging life-serving skiing in north America.”  Being somewhat remote it’s more difficult reach but the skiing is truly worth you while once you are there.

Canyons Ski Resort (UT) - This is the third largest ski resort in the United States with 4,000 skiable acres and nine mountain tops of pristine skiing.  It is considered by many as the “hidden gem” of ski resorts.  With $50 million in updates over the past several years if features wide-open cruising, slope-side luxury accommodations, high-speed lifts and gourmet restaurants.  The Orange Bubble Express is unique with covered chairs and heated seats.

Snowbird (UT) - Located in Wasatch’s Little Cottonwood Canyon and is one of the more popular ski resorts in northern Utah.  It’s connected to Alta Ski Resort through the Peruvian Tunnel people mover.  You can ski both resorts in the same day.  Annual snowfall average is 500” with early and late spring skiing (even into the early summer) possible.

Deer Valley, Park City City and Canyons ski resorts are within just minutes from each other in a family friendly atmosphere.  Vacationers have many choices for shopping, dinning and other activities with free shuttle between the resorts available.  Both are only 40-45 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport with several major airlines serving Salt Lake City.
